Whether this is your first or fourth time developing a weight loss plan, it’s important that you make exercise an important part of the plan if you want to get the best and most permanent results.

How Can I Lose Weight?

The only way your body can lose weight is to make it use more energy than it takes in.  You can do this just by eating less to cause a reduction in your calorie intake but you need to know how many calories to reduce.

The number of calories you need to burn to lose weight is easy.  In order to lose a pound, you have to use 3500 more calories than you take in. 

The hard part is figuring out how much less to eat to lose weight.  It all depends on your current weight, your weight loss goal (how much and how soon) and your physical activity level.  

It is as simple as that, but unfortunately, this is where many individuals assume that they can’t eat three meals a day and many actually just stop eating. After the weight is gone, most people go back to their old way of eating.  This can be a recipe for failure. 

Workouts To Lose Weight

Instead of trying to lose weight by reducing the amount of food you eat, you can use exercise to your advantage and make your body use more calories than you take in. 

By exercising, you burn calories.  If you burn more calories than you take in, your body gets the energy it needs by burning fat cells that your body burns to cause you lose weight. 

If you have a weight loss goal, like one that involves losing at least twenty pounds, using or reducing 3500 calories a week equals one pound lost.  You can calculate how many calories you have to reduce to burn a pound of fat.

If you focus on fun exercises or workouts that burn the most calories you increase the number of calories burned.  Adding exercise to your weight loss plan is a natural and a healthy way to lose weight and you can still eat the food you like.

Exercise Equipment

Since  exercise is an important part your weight loss plan, you may be wondering how you can start. I

For starters, you can buy a small collection of exercise equipment.  Your exercise equipment could include exercise balls, weights, a treadmill, a stair climber, and so forth.

Even if you have limited financial resources, you should be able to find a number of exercise equipment pieces that are within your budget.  But, it does no good to buy exercise equipment if you don’t know how to use it.

Although you should be able to find a number of exercise equipment pieces, including instructional workout DVDs, for affordable prices, you may not be ready to invest in exercise equipment.

You may want to consider joining one of the local gyms or fitness clubs.  there are a lot of them around and while some have relatively high fees and membership requirements .  You can find a number of them with affordable membership rates and operate on a monthly basis with no contract. 

It is also important to note that many fitness clubs have accommodating operating hours, making it easy to exercise before work, after work, or even during a lunch break.

Types of Exercise Equipment

Despite the fact that exercise is often associated with specific equipment, like a treadmill or free weights, that is not all exercise is about. Exercise can also involve something as simple as going for a walk or taking the stairs instead of the elevator. 

It is extremely important that exercise be a part of your weight loss plan, especially if you are serious about losing weight and want to lose weight in a healthy matter.
